Haywood Habitat for Humanity has numerous opportunities for you to get involved in our mission of eliminating poverty housing.

 

Some of the ways you can get involved:

-Skilled and Unskilled construction site work

-Meal providers for workers

-Join a committee (faith community relations, business relations, resource development, site selection, family nurture, family selection, publicity, volunteer coordination or construction)

-Help make decisions on our Board of Directors

 

Construction Site Workdays:

 

We work year round on Tuesday through Saturday.

Call the Volunteer Hot Line at 828-452-7960 for a recording of where we are building each week.

 

Habitat Volunteers must be 16 years or older to work on site when we are doing construction. Special arrangements can be made for youths 14-15 to work on Habitat homes when construction is not taking place. All volunteers must sign a waiver of liability.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

-What should I wear/bring to the construction site?

Work clothing, work boots, work gloves, hat, sunscreen, and any hand tools you are comfortable with using.

 

-Do I need prior construction experience?

No, the construction site supervisor is on hand to show you what to do.

 

-How long is the workday?

We typically work from 8:30 am to 3pm. Lunch is provided for you thanks to our committee volunteer meal providers.

 

-What if it is raining?

We work year round in all types of weather. Severe weather (ice or snow) may cause cancellations or delays. Call our hotline for schedule changes.
