Family donates new construction equipment

Dinah Mathis was a nurse and a caring, loving mother of three that she raised on her own. Her children said that times weren't always easy, but they made it with the help of family and friends. Recently, her family made a gift of greatly needed construction tools and equipment to Haywood Habitat in memory of Dinah. Her children Sadie Simerly, Michelle Huston, and Kyle Baldwin, along with her dearest friend, Elizabeth Broom, visited Walton Woods to present the donation to Habitat construction volunteers. Habitat Executive Director Jamye Sheppard said, "This gift is so representative of the type of person you are remembering. As a nurse, she cared for people at their greatest time of need. At Habitat, we care for people at a different time of need, but one that is critical. Your gift of tools and equipment will impact families for years and years to come." Daughter Sadie Simerly said, "Our mother was a hard worker in her short 63 years. I know she is proud that we are honoring her this year by giving to Habitat."
