Gift from Houck Foundation will help purchase ReStore truck

Waynesville residents Dave and Debbie Robison have made a $7,000 gift reality for our ReStore thanks to Dave's work as a trustee with the May K. Houck Foundation. The Robisons have been regular supporters of the ReStore for several years. When they heard the ReStore was in need of another truck for picking up donations, they sprung into action. "This gift, combined with other funds, will make it possible to replace our current truck that has travelled thousands of miles picking up almost 1,000 donations annually throughout Haywood County. The donations are the foundation of our ReStore sales that keep useable materials out of landfills and provide funding for our building program, so this gift is far more than just a truck." said Jamye Sheppard, Haywood Habitat Executive Director.

The Houck Foundation, based in Sarasota, Florida, was started by Dave's father and two other trustees in the 1970s as a way to distribute the estate of May Houck who dedicated most of her life to working with the blind and charities located in Rochester, NY and Sarasota, FL.
