Ladies Level Up home is a go

Early in 2021 a volunteer group of women involved with the Haywood Habitat Women Build program made a big commitment.  Their commitment was simple - raise dollars to raise roofs.  They would raise the funds to build a house and then build it.  Naming the initiative Ladies Level Up, they set a goal to raise $60,000 to fund the Habitat home for a qualifying female-led household in Haywood County.  Hoping to raise the funds by the beginning of 2022, they were stunned when they hit their goal by mid-summer.  This was all they needed to dispel any doubts that the community would be interested in such an undertaking.

Thanks to this group of volunteers and donors, women from all walks of life from Haywood County and beyond have the opportunity to come together and make a sustainable impact in the life of someone like them - a woman - a woman that needs a hand up, not a hand out.  Our Women Build program is an important part of Haywood Habitat and has long been a vehicle for women to be empowered to take action against poverty housing conditions.  With Ladies Level Up, we've taken it one step further.

Saturday, March 5, 2022, is the build kick-off for the first Ladies Level Up home.  Women are welcomed and encouraged to join together to build the home that will be located in our new Habitat neighborhood in Waynesville.  To sign up to participate, call 828.452.7960.  We will be building throughout February and March and are looking for volunteers.  For more information and a schedule visit Women Build or call 828.452.7960.

This initiative has been so successful that we are already working to raise funding for the next Ladies Level Up home.  To donate to Ladies Level Up Again, please visit us here.
