Harrah’s Cherokee Casino is making it possible for Haywood Habitat for Humanity to build its fiftieth new home in Haywood County. Janna Hyatt, regional community relations specialist, and other Harrah’s representatives joined Haywood Habitat volunteers to present an additional $20,000 check for the house the organization is sponsoring. The check matches the initial $20,000 for the home that was provided by “Raise the Roof”, an event underwritten by Harrah's and held last fall at their Cherokee property. The check presentation was intentionally scheduled to coincide with the volunteer day to raise the roof (set the roof trusses) on the home. Haywood Habitat Executive Director Jamye Sheppard said, “We are honored to partner with Harrah’s Cherokee. It’s a great day when we are all working toward our shared belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live. We deeply appreciate that the employees and management of Harrah’s are investing in our community and providing a hand up to those who need and deserve it.”
